What Can Cause The Same Or Similar Symptoms As Genital Herpes?

My friend was diagnosed with it about 4 months ago, but has not gone away, just gotten better but not completely and then comes back. The doctor tested her last week or so for other things, but she is waiting on the results, and she was negative for any stds besides herpes. We would like to know if anyone with herpes has experienced it for long periods of time even while taking medications, or if someone has an idea of what else she could have…fungus of any sort??? Thanks for your time!

There are more false negatives then false positives when it comes to herpes testing. If you test too early then you can get false negatives.
If you were diagnosed by a doctor then most likely you do have herpes.
If you have it on the mouth then it’s extremely common to have 50-90 percent of the world has it and you can get this oral herpes with out ever having sex. If some one with cold sores gives you a kiss on the mouth then you have a pretty good chance of getting it.
If you have had oral or regular sex recently then you can get genital herpes. Out breaks can occur back to back which may be why they are lasting so long, or your immune system is down (from stress or illness) the immune system helps to prevent and heal out breaks.
There isn’t much that would cause symptoms that are similar to herpes. Most of the time people mistake symptoms for other things like yeast infections or utis until they break out in blisters or sores.
I have herpes but have never had an out break last for more then a couple of weeks. You may want to talk your doctor about getting some kind of suppressive therapy. If your on some kind of suppressive therapy then you may want to ask the doctor about a different method or medication.
