Taking Daily Acyclovir For Genital Herpes, Does Birth Control Still Work?

I started takin daily acyclovir 200mg (script at wal-mart) and I just got back on birth control (ortho try..whatever..) so I know that birth control doesn’t work with antibiotics.. so does my birth control going to cooperate with this daily suppressive therapy for genital herpes?

i think you should talk to ur doctor on that.. i was prescribe meds for my cold sores which they prescribed me acyclovir as well just in case and they did question me if i am on birth control b/c they need to know due to the meds and how the body hormone changes when taking them.

antivirals are a def class of drugs. im positive that they wont interfere…if you aren’t sure look on the prescription info packet for the acyclovir. it will tell you drug interactions

It should still work but still use protection because even if you don’t see that it is there then you could still have it.
