You *ssholes didn’t want to answer my question when I asked the first time so I’ll ask again:
If I touch my cold sore and 30 minutes later, I touch my genitals, will I get genital herpes?

Wow. I was all excited about answering your question (which I apparently didn’t see the first time you posted it.) Then you choose to call me an *sshole. Makes me want to to totally ignore your question – or even write a bunch of incorrect information – even though I saw it this time. Next time you’re asking for reliable information, you might want to think about being more polite. Just sayin’.
The herpes virus dies quite quickly away from the human body. 30 minutes is a VERY long time for the virus to live on your hands. It would be unlikely – maybe even impossible – for the virus to live that long on your hands.
Also, if you’ve had oral herpes for more than a couple of months, then your body has built up antibodies to the virus that will do an EXCELLENT job of protecting you from re-infecting yourself. Some doctors say that it’s impossible. Other people just say that its very very rare. If you are JUST infected, though, your body has no protection, and you can indeed spread the virus from one part of your body to another.
But the fact that its been 30 minutes pretty much rules out the likelihood of transmission.
Hope that answers your question, *sshole.

Herpes can spread from one place on your body to another, such as from your genitals to your fingers, then to your eyes or to other parts of your body. Herpes is relatively easy to transmit and an infection on your mouth in the form of a cold sore is annoying and can cause stigma because it is so visible. Genital outbreaks can be even more troublesome. Herpes (oral or genital) doesn’t confine the area where outbreaks can occur, although there is usually a primary outbreak at the original point of infection.

It is extremely unlikely.
Once you have hsv-1 in one place – in your case, your mouth – you start to produce antibodies to the virus which prevent you from getting the same virus in a second location.
It CAN happen, but usually happens to someone who, for example, only had their first cold sore within the last few months, and hasn’t built up any immunity to the virus yet. It can also happen to people with immune disorders and things like HIV. Otherwise, it is not going to happen.

its possible but not definite. here is a website that explains the differences between HVS 1 (Oral) and HVS 2 (Genital) herpes.com. It was very educational to me. But to answer your question it is possible but unlikely. You already have anti bodies in your body that fight the virus. I am not saying that it cant happend but the chances are lower since you already have the herpes virus,
