How often does a healthy female get a Pap smear? What about one with HPV?

My gf is in her mid twenties and told me she gets Pap smears every 6 months. I’m not an expert, but that seems like a high frequency. Is this suggestive of having a previous condition or infection of HPV?

Could be pre cancerous cells. A healthy adult woman should get one every year.

Its is much better what your gf do right now. If both of you have an active sexual life, it is best to have a check ones in a while. One can have STD infection through direct contact. Direct contact is referred to intimate contact such as the vaginal sex, anal sex, and oral sex. A person who has this kind of infection has blisters or sores that can be noticed in their skin. After the first attack the virus hides away in the nerve fibers causing no symptoms.

I am in my mid-20s with a history of HPV… my doctor recommends a “check up” pap smear every 6 months even though everything is fine now.
Usually women are supposed to get pap smears every year…
Maybe your friend is just being extra cautious though which isn’t a bad idea…

I have high risk HPV, and had to return after 6 months for another Pap. A healthy female would have a yearly Pap. It could be that she is concerned about something, or it could be that she has something.
