basically i just want to know if a person can have genital herpes and not have an outbreak for the rest of their life or whats the longest number of years recorded without having one.

It’s very possible. Especially if you have HSV1-genitally. Many have just the one outbreak. In other instances, some people NEVER have an initial outbreak and only know they have HSV through a blood test (I know of a couple people that find out when they were going to have a baby).
Whether or not you have another outbreak-you will always have herpes.

It’s possible, even with out medication. It’s not common but it does happen. the first out break is usually the worst. If the person with herpes has a strong immune system and stays away from what triggers their out breaks they could go the rest of their lives with out ever having an out break.

i found out i had it a year ago, because i had an outbreak and went to the doctor. but i haven’t had one since then. i take valtrex though.

after the first outbreak, most suffer with them on average of twice a year, and no, you cannot go life without another outbreak.

With medicine it is very possible. Many people are completely unaware they even have the disease & never show symptoms.
