All warts are caused by HPV. The strains of HPV that cause genital warts are different thatn the strains of HPV that cause warts on your fingers.
HPV strains have the places that they typically live, but it is possible for the warts from any strain to make warts any where on your body.
So yep, it’s possible for that wart on his finger to cause a wart on your genitals. Unlikely, but possible. Still, I’d want to avoid contact with it until he got it removed.

I have done some research on this topic. I have a wart on my arm that just recently popped up and I wanted to know why. It turns out that all common warts that come up on the body and the genital warts received as an STD are both caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Just like herpes, HPV CAN be spread from mouth to genitalia (and vice versa) and from hands to genitalia.
I would be careful because condoms do not protect against warts as they can be anywhere on the genitalia or anywhere in the area, such as the anal area or even lower – the thigh.

NO! genital warts are an STD, the other warts are from a skin infection. they can not be transmitted that way…no worries
