I just asked a question about genital warts and someone wrote me back about herpes…are they the same thing?

Do they just let it contract each other and not worry about it? How does the relationship work when someone has an STD?

HPV causes genital warts and can lead to cancer in some cases, but it is not the same thing as HIV. I think some people who are ignorant of the diseases tend to subconsciously overreact to hearing the acronym HPV, confusing it with HIV. Don’t you wish there was another acronym for HPV?
I wasn’t asking why people freak out about HPV, but if they have a stronger reaction to the acronym due to its similarity to HIV.

My friend was diagnosed with it about 4 months ago, but has not gone away, just gotten better but not completely and then comes back. The doctor tested her last week or so for other things, but she is waiting on the results, and she was negative for any stds besides herpes. We would like to know if anyone with herpes has experienced it for long periods of time even while taking medications, or if someone has an idea of what else she could have…fungus of any sort???
