HPV FACTS and THROAT CANCER (human papilloma virus)

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

My girlfriend was diagnosed with HPV about 6 years ago. Since then I have been studying HPV extensively (human papilloma virus) and have been to several doctors and specialist. In doing so I noticed a ton of websites and even doctors giving wrong information about HPV! I decided to put all my findings into video form and opened this youtube account where I will be discussing new findings and would like to make this page a forum for discussing the skin disease. one MAJOR finding that most doctors and websites are still not aware of is that HPV is a major cause of Head and Neck Cancers (Mouth and Throat). Most websites, doctors and people are still under the impression that HPV only affects a womans cervix. WRONG! It affects BOTH men and women. You can get it a number of ways, 1 being through oral sex. Condoms DO NOT protect against it. There are often no signs or symptoms and its extremely hard to test for. Men cannot be test at all. Most people have no idea they even have HPV! Its extemely deadly though and they say that about 80% of the US population will get at least 1 of the 100+ types of this contagious skin to skin contact disease at some point in their lives. My hope is that after you watch this video you will be much better informed and will either prevent yourself from getting HPV or you will see doctors regularly to prevent yourself from developing the various types of cancer (throat, mouth, penile, vulva, cervical, and anal). If you have confirmation that a

Std Symptoms-Itching: The Itchy Facts!

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

You know the saying: “If it doesn’t itch, don’t scratch!” It can be a euphemism of the word “procrastinate”. Just because it doesn’t itch, it doesn’t mean you’re not infected. And just because it doesn’t itch, you shouldn’t have it checked. That little itch could just be the sign of STD. That little bump on the skin, even if it doesn’t itch, could be a deadly sore called Chancre.

Chancres are those firm, small, round, painless sores that appear on the genital areas like the vagina, penis and anus. They appear on people infected with the STD called Syphilis in its early stages. These bumps are not itchy at first and would seem to heal by itself in 3 to 6 weeks time. Only to return with a vengeance! In the second stages of Syphilis an outbreak of rashes appears all over the body. Rough, red and reddish brown spots appear on the palms of the hands and on the bottoms of the feet. The sight of these rashes is enough to make you itch! These are accompanied by other symptoms like fever, swollen lymph glands, itchy sore throat, patchy hair loss, headaches, weight loss, muscle pains and unexplained fatigue. In the latent stage of Syphilis, these rashes may seem to go away but the infected person will have the disease forever. If left untreated, the disease could progress to more damaging medical conditions like paralysis, blindness, dementia and eventually death.

Another itch you shouldn’t scratch is from the sores caused by Herpes. The Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and 2 is the culprit behind the STD Herpes. Symptoms of this disease come in the form of a group of small painful sores or blisters around the genital areas. The first outbreak usually occurs during the first 2 weeks of infection. The sores will heal within 2 to 4 weeks only to recur in greater numbers. These sores can easily be mistaken for insect bites or a simple allergy. Once you scratch them, they could develop into open sores making it more prone for infection and transmission. These sores are so infectious and recurrent that the person infected can suffer 4 to 5 outbreaks in a year!

Gonorrhea and Chlamydia are called the silent disease. There are no visible sores or rash to scratch but the victims of this infection experience a burning, itchy sensation every time they urinate. The bacteria causing these infections invade the cervix and urethra causing abnormal vaginal discharges, extreme pain during sexual intercourse and bleeding between menstrual periods in women. For men, the symptoms are similar. They also experience abnormal discharges from the penis, burning and itching around the penis, a burning sensation while urinating and while having sex and pain and swelling of the testicles. These diseases could also be transmitted thru oral sex – so that itchy sore throat could be a symptom!

Once you are sexually active there is no way you should ignore that itch! That something itchy could already be a symptom that you are infected with STD!  The only way for you to find out if you are infected is to have yourself checked in the nearest STD testing center. The advantage of having yourself tested in an STD Test Center is that it is more economical than having yourself checked in a hospital. If you have privacy issues, all the results are fast and confidential! There are no long lines for waiting or unnecessary paperwork to deal with.

Save yourself from STD! Don’t scratch that itch! Let’s have you checked instead!

Genital Warts – 7 Established Facts About Genital Warts

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Here are seven established facts about genital warts.

1. Genital warts are highly contagious.

Genital warts spread easily from one person to another through sexual intercourse. Human papillomavirus (HPV), the virus responsible for genital warts, is able to penetrate one’s skin and mucosal surfaces through the tiny abrasions in the genital area that develop during sexual intercourse.

2. Genital warts are incurable.

Once you catch HPV, you can never eliminate it from your body. You can treat it and remove the genital warts, but it remains dormant in your system. Thus, genital warts can show up again.

3. Genital warts may resurface.

HPV can lie dormant in your body. It can resurface when triggered by risk factors like smoking, stress, excessive consumption of alcohol, immune system deficiencies, and lifestyle changes, among others. In fact, a lot of people are not aware that they have HPV in their system. Many men do have genital warts on their penis and remain unaware of their presence since they may be very tiny and hidden. A lot of women also have genital warts but remain oblivious because they occur internally in many cases. Only 10 percent of genital warts are noticeable.

4. Genital warts can be treated and get rid of.

There are different therapy options for genital warts removal depending on their size and location. If you consult your doctor, he or she may advise you to apply a topical medication or undergo electrocautery (burning), cryosurgery (freezing), or laser treatment. Some people also attest to the efficacy of herbal preparation in getting rid of genital warts.

5. Genital warts cannot spread from your genitals to other parts of your body and vice versa.

There are at least 150 types of HPV. The strains that are responsible for genital warts occur only in the genital region. They spread through direct contact with the skin of an infected partner through vaginal, anal, or oral intercourse. Infection may happen through contact with a visible genital wart or through subclinical infection, meaning contact with an area of the skin with no visible genital wart. Following sexual intercourse with an infected person, genital warts may take a few weeks to several years to manifest.

6. You can do something to prevent further development of genital warts.

Many studies have proven that having a healthy immune system helps a lot in preventing the outbreak of genital warts. For those who have had genital warts, physicians require specific supplements that boost the immune system like selenium, green tea extract, bioflavins, and grape seed extract.

7. Genital warts may cause cervical cancer.

Approximately 70 percent of all cases of cervical cancer are caused by types 16 and 18 of HPV. HPV causes the outer layer of normal cells of the cervical transformation zone (TZ) to be replaced by cancer cells. Such a change is only detected in the early stages through a Pap smear. In fact, 90 percent of deaths arising from cervical cancer could have been prevented through early detection. Hence, it is imperative that all women who are sexually active have regular Pap smears.
